I am working as a video and photo artist exploring the instability of the home creating realistic miniature sets and filming the interiors.
I am motivated by creating movement in static interiors . The collapse of a stable interior can be intimidating and liberating to me . I am interested in the duality .
My process is to set an uncontrollable process in motion and explore what happens . Quiet interiors, that appear real size at first sight, are disrupted by amorphous movements.
I pour yoghurt down the stairs , spray shaving foam in through the windows or immerse the entire house in my bathtub.
I draw from the experience I gathered painting filmsets over the years , working with textures and many different kinds of materials to create an illusion, using liquids, gels, food or beauty products to disrupt the harmony .
Working in a miniature setting gives me the possibility of creating more extreme contrasts and play around with gravity, turning the house upside down or shaking the furniture around .
It becomes a place where normality exists side by side with the unexpected .
The absence of digital manipulation is important to me and everything you see in the videos , is actual footage of real events in the mini sets .
A fine transparent line lies between the organized and the ever present chaos , and that lack of balance is, what I am trying to explore through my videos
